
Octa Clark played this great tune that he composed with a nice old style lope. After it was recorded by Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, it became very popular, but is rarely played in this old style. Mr. Clark is one of my favorites. Do a search, here, and see him playing.
Leadbelly recorded this song in two arrangements. One in E major; the other, E minor. This is my version of the E major. It was also recorded by Bill Monroe in Em, then later converted to G major. The G version became the basis of the Cajun song "Dans Les Pins."
