Dr Bajram Rexhepi was here in the UK to attend the 'Pongu Thamil' event where over 30,000 Tamils attended a mass rally to show their solidarity with their brethren back in Sri Lanka fighting for freedom from oppression. In his speech at the 'Pongu Thamil' event Dr Rexhepi said that his people and himself will stand in support and solidarity with the Tamils fighting for self determination from the State of Sri Lanka. Dr. Bajram Rexhepi was the first Kosovo Prime to be accepted by the international community. He was elected based on an agreement among the three main political parties of Kosovo, and on 4th of March 2002 he received the Parliament's vote of confidence to be the head of a coalition government. He graduated in Medicine from the University of Prishitna and worked as a doctor for many years. He specialized in Zagreb. Prime Minister Rexhepi has worked as a specialist of general surgery and endoscope at the Health Centre and the Regional Hospital of Mitrovica. He joined the KLA as a surgeon having understood his support was a necessity. During this time, he made a huge human contribution as a surgeon for all people who were threatened by a humanitarian catastrophe. When the war in Kosovo ended, Prime Minister Rexhepi became the Mayor of Mitrovica, the city which experienced division. In the first local elections in October 2000, he was elected as a member of the Mitrovica Municipal Assembly and in 2001 elections he was elected as a Kosovo Assembly Member. In the election of 2004, he was elected as a member of the Kosovo Assembly from the list of candidates of the Kosovo Democratic Party.
