On 29th April 2008 MANGO launched the second edition of the "el Botón"-MANGO Fashion Awards, an event which aims to promote and increase the international projection of up-and-coming designers. The candidates will have the opportunity to present their collections before a prestigious jury and opt for a prize of 300,000 euros, the largest sum offered to date in a competition of this nature. The new registration period will commence on 1 May and designers will have until 31 August to present their applications. The jury, made up of representatives of MANGO and five prestigious international design schools (Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design, London; Institut Français de la Mode, Paris; Istituto Marangoni, Milan; Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp; and l'Escola Superior de Disseny, Barcelona), will select 10 finalists from all the applications presented. The first edition of the el Botón-MANGO Fashion Awards featured an outstanding Chairman, the renowned designer Valentino, who handed over the award to the winners, the duo formed by Sandrina Fasoli and Michaël Marson, based in Belgium.
