5th Annual Hawaii Walk Now for Autism Raises $123,000 On Saturday, June 14, 1,200 people enjoyed a day at the beach at Magic Island at Ala Moana Beach Park in Honolulu, Hawaii for the 5th annual Hawaii Walk Now for Autism. The walkers, on more than 110 teams, raised $123,000 - $9,000 more than at the 2007 Walk. Walkers enjoyed a variety of entertainment, including performances by Mr. Amazing the Magician, a dance group from Jig This School of Irish Dance and musician Jim Hubbard. Walk Emcee Kap'n from Oldies 107.9 introduced the Honorary Walk Chair, Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann, who welcomed the crowd and presented a proclamation from the city. For the first time, walkers who raised over $1,000 were honored on stage as members of the Grand Club and presented with an exclusive collectible pin. The Walk also hosted a resource fair, which showcased 30 companies and organizations. A number of generous sponsors contributed to the success of the Hawaii Walk Now for Autism, including Gold Sponsor Hawaii USA Federal Credit Union and Media Sponsors Oceanic Time Warner Cable, KBFD TV and Oldies 107.9. Special thanks to returning Walk Chair Kalma Wong for making the Hawaii Walk such a success. Visit the Hawaii Walk page or go to the Walk Now for Autism site to find a walk in your area.
