This aquarium is set up for African Cichlids. That is why there are two Lemon Yellows (Labidochromis caeruleus), found in Nkata Bay in Lake Malawi. These cichlids are pretty peaceful compared to other mbunas! You'll also see my favorite . . . a Red Shoulder (Aulonocara stuartgranti). The other fish are fillers. I like having loaches to clean up the excess food, and because I think they're beautiful. Also, the plecostomus, well, he keeps the algae down. The cichlids prefer a higher PH, and the other fish don't seem to mind. I add aquarium salt every time I do a water change (about every three weeks). I haven't had a death in about a year! So, I'm getting better.
