Poor girl Lily Powers (Barbara Stanwyck) arrives in the big city and begins sleeping her way up the company ladder. Director Alfred Green's 1933 of a Daryl F. Zanuck story was considered steamy hot upon its release. Stanwyck is terrific as the tough bartender moll in a small mill town who takes the advice of a German immigrant fan of famed philosopher Nietzsche and exploits her looks and men's desires to accumulate wealth. This clip is notable for the appearance of the 26 year old John Wayne in one of the many small roles he was cranking out at the time.
A favorite couple of scenes from one of Barbara Stanwyck films and this movie was one of Barbara's favorite roles.
The trailer for the 1933 movie, "Baby Face".
