This is my tribute to the late Robert White, one of my favorite guys I've had the good fortune to know. He wasn't a collector, he was a SUPERCOLLECTOR. And although for years I had wanted to do a longer video documentary about his collection called HOW TO SHRINK A HEAD, I was grateful that I had a tape of this 1994 visit to his Catonsville, MD basement museum. Thank you Dick Bangham of www.ripbang.com for bringing your camera that day! And thank you Marc Masters for a great editing job http://nowavebook.blogspot.com/ Bob became internationally famous, most notably for his JFK Collection, but I'll always know him as this down-to-earth dude who used to exhibit near my Pop at Atlantique City, one of the coolest and most fun antique shows on the East Coast (still going on in Atlantic City, but a shadow of its former self). Here's the program notes from the 2004 Maryland Film Festival where it screened: A short tribute to Baltimoreon Robert White--one of the most remarkable collectors of all-time--famous for his collections of shrunken heads, famous hair locks, even Hollywood Oscars, not to mention the greatest private collection of JFK memorabilia ever assembled. He passed away suddenly last year at 54. He was a gracious and friendly man, and this short reel from a March 1994 visit is but a small testament to his grand vision.
