The film celebrates the 40th anniversary of "Das Kleine Fernsehspiel". "Das Kleine Fernsehspiel" --a part of ZDF Television-- is one of the most important producers for independent film worldwide. The filmmaker Vaske talks to actors, directors and producers about their collaboration with "Das Kleine Fernsehspiel". The film features interviews with directors such as Wolfgang Petersen, Jim Jarmusch und Tom Tykwer, Edgar Reitz, André Wajda, Rosa von Praunheim, actors like Hannelore Elsner, Nina Petri, Irm Hermann, Joachim Król and Veit Relin, and producers like Peter Berling and Dieter Kosslick, the director of the Berlin film festival Berlinale. The film wouldn't be complete without a birthday cake and the cream of independent cinema chanting "Happy Birthday, Kleines Fernsehspiel!".
